Position Description:

The San Jose, CA based NVH engineer position will be model focused but still require the ability to acquire, analyze and report out on objective data.  Responsibilities will include:

  • Modeling & analysis of powertrain, vehicle and system noise & vibration with regard to:
    • Intake and exhaust systems
    • Powertrain / driveline
    • Transfer path analysis
  • Quantification of the effect of engine control algorithm changes on noise and vibration
  • Conducting experimental studies of mechanical dynamics and acoustics to support powertrain and vehicle development
  • Evaluation of subjective and objective vehicle NVH characteristics and development of metrics to correlate the two
  • Close collaboration with the Controls and Test teams
  • Contribution to the generation of innovative ideas and development of project plans
Requirements:
  • M.S. in related engineering discipline, Ph.D. preferred
  • Understanding of engine, driveline and vehicle noise and vibration simulation methods, and experimental procedures, equipment and software
  • Fluent in both time and frequency domain representations of systems
  • Experience with simulation tools such as AMESim, GT Suite, Simulink, Adams, etc.
  • Experience with noise and vibration data analysis tools such as Test.Lab / Artemis / Pulse
  • Systematic approach toward engineering development
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to influence technical direction
  • Demonstrated team orientation and project management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment
