Responsibilities:
- Work with our head of product and design team to explore and design new product features and flows using user-centered design methodologies like structured brainstorming, sketching, prototyping, user testing, etc.
- Work with our user researcher to develop user questions and synthesize feedback from users about your designs. Incorporate feedback into subsequent iterations.
- Be responsible for crafting a consistent visual design language across all Automatic materials (apps, web, packaging, marketing, etc.) that furthers the Automatic brand.
- Coordinate with the engineering team to make sure designs are implemented as intended. Hear their ideas for how designs might change given implementation constraints.
- Hire designers and lead/mentor them as the company grows.
Requirements:
- Mastery of user experience design practice and principles spanning the entire product development process, from concepting to implementation to measuring the design’s success in the field.
- Exquisite design taste and attention to detail.
- Deep experience designing elegant and appropriate user experiences, interactions, and user flows for modern mobile software products.
- Exceptional communication skills; the ability to clearly explain design decisions and process to anyone in the company.
- Ability to get feedback and buy-in from non-designers about design direction and features.
- Success leading and growing a team of designers to create modern mobile software products.
- Skilled at talking with engineers to assure that product features are implemented as designed.
Nice to haves:
- Strong visual interface design skills.
- Expert knowledge of design and prototyping tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Omnigraffle, etc.
- Experience designing mobile software for iPhone that’ve shipped.
