Position Summary

We’re looking for a special person to help lead the Trade Marketing Function at WX Brands. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the VP of Trade Marketing will serve as a key strategic leader within the organization. You will play a pivotal role in setting strategy for the new department, translating the Brand marketing initiatives into execution at the retail and on-premise levels, developing sales programming, cultivating retailer partnerships, and ensuring outstanding execution with the trade.

Key focus areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Building a trade department aligned with WX’s long term vision to flawlessly execute at the point of purchase
  • Strategic leadership developing near and long-term strategies with the Commercial Leaders of WX, and building opportunities and initiatives for our WX national brands portfolio
  • Creating the optimal process for translating brand marketing objectives into retail execution, including the creation of an 18-month programming calendar, timelines for delivering impactful POS initiatives, and handling of all partnership tie-ins.
  • Leading a Team that develops tailored trade marketing strategies based on customers and/or regions
  • Partners with brand marketing to create integrated marketing campaigns (IMPs) and subsequent compelling channel point-of-sale programming materials for all WX national brands. Management of multiple vendors in the production and delivery of Point of Sale marketing materials.
  • Oversight and management of Trade Marketing Budget, both tracking and ROI of key tactics
  • Developing a best-in-class cadence for communication from the Brand Marketing Team to the Sales Team via newsletters, monthly meetings, weekly calls with leadership
  • Leading key events including:
    1. Monthly Sales & Marketing meeting
    2. Global Sales Meeting
    3. WSWA, Food & Wine events, Various Trade Shows

Requirements (Education & Experiences)

  • 10+ years sales & marketing experience in beverage alcohol industry with minimum 5 years of experience in the wine industry
  • BA in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing or equivalent experience, MBA preferred
  • Solid understanding of the 3-Tier wine distribution system, retail environments and production processes
  • Proven track record of meeting aggressive growth targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire and coach teams
  • Leading presentation skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of the US wine and spirits industry, its trends, products, competitive issues, laws and business opportunities
  • Broad exposure to multiple retail channels, including grocery, mass, club, convenience and on premise
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%
