Upward Bound Programs are federally funded TRio programs that provide educational assistance, academic advisement, tutoring, college and career planning, and educational & cultural fieldtrips to low-income first-generation high school students. Our Upward Bound Programs operate a six-week academic program at Mission College, which is located in Sylmar, California. For six weeks students are involved in intense academic, motivational, cultural, and career activities. The most important aspect of the summer academic program is that participants prepare for the rigor of college study by facing academic challenges beyond those presented in traditional public high schools. Upward Bound participants receive a minimum of 160 hours of instruction in six-weeks and in most cases, earn credit for two semesters of a high school course.
