Engine Dyno Operator

Position Description:

The engine dyno operator will be responsible for automotive engine and vehicle development testing, and associated electrical and mechanical build-up. Position reports to the Engine Laboratory Manager. Duties include:

  • Support fuel economy, emissions, and NVH evaluation/analysis by conducting engine and vehicle dynamometer tests
  • Design and install electrical harnesses in engine test cells and vehicles
  • Design and build test hardware and fixtures
  • Perform calibration and verify functionality of instrumentation
  • Validate test procedures to ensure accurate, repeatable results
  • Facilitate testing and development tasks with external engineering houses as needed

Requirements:

  • Skilled technician with a minimum of 5 years experience in automotive R&D and/or performance development
  • Electrical signal wiring fundamentals for low noise in laboratory instrumentation
  • Electrical wiring loom construction skills especially relating to powertrain wiring harnesses
  • Knowledge of automotive engine mechanicals, performance, and control
  • Experience with automotive powertrain test methods, procedures, equipment and software including engine and vehicle dynamometers, combustion analysis, and emissions measurement
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact with several levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated team orientation and time management skills
  • Clean driving record
