Accounting Manager

 

 

Job Summary:

Are you a GAAP guru?  Are you organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven but want to use your accounting superpowers in a dynamic, fun-loving environment?  Do you have experience coaching and mentoring team members and drive to help others succeed?  If so, you might be just the person we’re looking for. We are seeking someone who can lead a small accounting team and manage toward scaled growth. Mentorship and delegation is a must in this role; all while continuing to drive our day-to-day accounting operations and help us refine and expand our capabilities as we grow (which we’re doing rapidly).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor current Accounting staff as well as manage and scale growth of the department.
  • Identify and define accounting issues, research accounting guidance, educate others, and recommend accounting treatments.
  • Execute period close procedures. Make closing journal entries. Reconcile all balance sheet accounts. Meet close deadlines.
  • Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with GAAP.
  • Reconcile credit card receipts, sales, and shipments daily.
  • Execute and monitor financial reporting controls.
  • Monitor and support payroll and sales taxation issues.
  • Financial audit preparation and coordination.
  • Prepare bank reconciliation, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets accounting, year-end closing entries and audit schedules. 
  • Develop and communicate processes and procedures related to accounting transactions.

 

Qualifications:

  • Deep knowledge of GAAP. Minimum 4 years’ experience in technical accounting.
  • Degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing people.
  • Excellent people skills: able to build trust and respect; can express viewpoints and promote positions without alienating or offending.
  • Strong computer skills -- accounting packages and Excel.
  • Experience in ecommerce, retail, active apparel preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Must be flexible.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Able to work independently.  Excellent time management skills.
  • Able to relate to The Clymb's products and the active outdoor lifestyle preferred.
