Financial Analyst

 

Job Summary:

The Financial Analyst role requires deep understanding of The Clymb’s business model and underlying drivers as well as expert business acumen.  The opportunity includes modeling complex financial and operational situations in Excel and other tools, ad-hoc reporting and analysis to inform business decisions across the organization, and providing financial reporting to internal and external groups.  Working across multiple departments and levels is part of the job.  The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work well both autonomously and under the direction of others.  The role requires a candidate who thrives in a rapidly growing, fast-paced and constantly changing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial analysis and support to Finance and executive team to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Implement changes to complex financial model as directed, continually upgrading and quality checking to provide accurate and timely business information.
  • Recommend changes to financial and operational models based on analysis, industry knowledge, business acumen, and ad-hoc analytics projects.
  • Within forecast, update actuals, determine variance and provide analysis on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Build additional models to forecast company growth and performance and evaluate new opportunities.
  • Create proforma and historical financial statements, metrics reports, and other financial presentations for multiple business units.
  • Participate in the budgeting process and monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations.
  • Assist company in developing KPIs at corporate and departmental levels.
  • Present financial information in format that is easy to understand.
  • Update and analyze complex financial information from multiple lines of business and business units for use in building models for decision-making and predicting financial outcomes.
  • Benchmark company’s performance against comparables; maintain database of industry and competitor financial and operational metrics/performance.
  • Partner with others on financial analysis, business metrics, financial reporting, special projects, and new business opportunities.
  • Assist with due diligence and analysis for equity and debt providers.
  • Initiate continual process improvement efforts to enhance timeliness and accuracy.
  • Perform ad-hoc reporting and analysis and other projects as needed.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting or similar field with commensurate experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting or finance.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Experience presenting financial information and providing variance analysis to C-level staff.
  • Extremely strong written and verbal communication and presentations skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills and the ability to creatively solve problems.
  • Expert modeling skills.
  • Results- and metrics-driven with ability to work cross-functionally, on teams, and independently to meet deadlines and requirements.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities and competing demands for time and resources.
  • Experience growing a team in size and complexity.
  • Bias toward finding solutions vs. shutting down ideas.
  • Ability to relate to The Clymb's products and the Northwest outdoor lifestyle.

Desired Qualifications

  • Ownership of business unit or company budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Systems implementation or design experience.
  • Advanced degree or qualification such as MBA, CPA or CFA.
  • Experience with Netsuite, SAP, or similar software package.
  • Experience in start-up or high-growth environment.
  • Experience building teams and creating and documenting processes.
