TakingITGlobal is an international organization lead by youth, empowered by technology. TakingITGlobal (TIG) connects youth from around the world to find inspiration, information and get involved in improving their local, regional and global communities.
TakingITGlobal’s mission is to provide opportunities for learning, capacity building, cross-cultural awareness, and self-development through the use of Information and Communication Technologies. Its key strategic initiatives include; providing a virtual space for cross-cultural expression, dialogue, networking and collaboration among youth, supporting youth action and understanding around global issues, developing rich interactive, global education experiences, and facilitating the development of local content, multilingualism and skills training.
TakingITGlobal has approximately 20 staff based in Toronto and an additional 20 staff who work part-time in different parts of Canada and around the world as well as hundreds of volunteers. Supporters include Canadian Heritage, Microsoft, Adobe Youth Foundation.
-Member Support and Community Engagement
-Support the revision and improvement of TIGed support materials, including the Frequently Asked -
Questions, TIGed Users' Guide, video tutorials, quick reference guides, and more.
-Support the development of support materials for partners utilizing the TIGed platform.
-Post and host virtual office hours
-Respond to support requests from existing and prospective TIGeducators in a timely manner, and
-Expand the demo class by populating it with relevant content
-Provide general and administrative support to the TIGed Program Manager (such as assisting with the
development of grant applications, proposals, reports, and other documents; travel logistics, etc.)
-Contribute to the TIGed twitter account.
-Contribute to the Internal TIGed Operations and Training Manual.
<b>Public Engagement and Events</b>
-Represent TIG and TIGed at local conferences and community events
-Contribute to TIG's best practice knowledge related to events
-Document and share information about event attendance with the team
-Whenever possible, participate in TIG team meetings, and TIGed team meetings
-Share thoughts, ideas, and suggestions as they ariseContribute to the strategic development and
continual improvement of the TIGed program by sharing observations, ideas, and constructive criticism
-Keep staff updated by posting to "My Week" every Friday and maintain regular communication with the
Director of Education Programs and Human Resources Manager at TIG and Director of Programming
-Share interesting education related articles, news items, and resources with the team
-Add relevant bookmarks to the TIGed Delicious utilizing the established tagging system.
-Prepare a handover note to help to orient the next individual filling this role
-Strong interest in technology, global education, and youth development

Improve skills: Staff at TakingITGlobal improve a broad range of skills including various types of web development, design, marketing, evaluation and surveys, fundraising, writing, editing, and strategy. The organization provides a good platform to improve and learn new skills due to the varied range of projects, and the opportunity to learn from others.
Gain work experience: As a youth-driven organization, TIG is often the first or second ‘career-related’ work experience for its staff. This experience can be particularly valuable, considering that (due to constant growth; and most people being relatively new or on the same level of seniority) positions are generally both challenging and ‘senior’. TIG’s reputation is growing and may be respected by future employers, and TIG’s collaborative nature and opportunities for travel and representation mean staff may grow a solid professional network.
