We collect vast amounts of data from interactions with millions of users every day. As Business Intelligence Manager you are in charge of "making sense" of the data - providing analysis, reports and actionable business insights to all business units in the company. As well, your job is to ensure everyone in the company has the reporting tools & numbers they need to make business decisions

Your Role

  • You take on ownership of the different reporting systems and metrics used in the company. As necessary you educate the different business units on these systems and metrics.
  • You work with all business units of the company to understand their business intelligence needs. You translate these needs to new metrics, reports and tools that you design and, if applicable, implement. 
  • You acquire extensive understanding of how our business is reflected in our databases / data warehouse - including all the nitty-gritty details
  • You provide quantative analysis to support the decision-making process for management and all business units - you can provide an answer for every "What does our data tell us about problem X" type of question. For this, you use a variety of tools, from ad-hoc SQL queries to Excel to BI tools such as Pentaho Kettle.  
  • You analyze/synthesize/model our data to answer central business questions (e.g. user behavioral patterns, revenue prediction models, A/B test analysis, cluster analysis of our advertising offers)

Your Skills and Qualifications

  • Your have a business background as well as a very strong set of data analysis skills
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit - a strong drive to improve business value  
  • 5+ years of work experience in a business intelligence role
  • You have extensive work experience in consultant-like roles where you analyzed needs of business stakeholders and came up with the right solution to their needs
  • You have a knack for visualizing data in a clear and compelling manner that inspires action 
  • SQL Wizard. You are no stranger to SQL queries with hundreds of lines
  • Real-world experience in statistical methods such as clustering, regression, pattern recognition, descriptive and inferential statistics, decision trees, prediction models a big plus.
  • Experience with analyzing very large data sets a big plus
