Position Overview

As our lead iOS engineer, you'll own the development of iPhone and iPad apps. That means you’ll be extending our current app and building a second from scratch.

You'll need: 

  • Experience developing, releasing, and supporting iOS apps
  • A desire to make a positive impact on teachers and education
  • The ability to thoughtfully discuss and debate with the team
  • Time spent with iOS SDK, iOS frameworks & proven development skills

Huge Pluses:

  • Open-source contributions
  • Actual apps we can play with

In addition to iOS development, here are a few examples of our ongoing projects:

  • Redesigning our site into something that not only looks good but loads content dynamically for a real-time experience
  • New features that reimagine a discussion area where users can connect and learn from each other
  • Students/parents should be able to receive messages where THEY WANT. Right now, we offer SMS and email We’ll expand this to push notifications and other channels
  • Constantly optimize site speed, measure conversions, split test and iterate
  • Scaling to handle millions of users

We're not fanatics about using specific technologies. Instead, we believe in using the right tool for solving the problem at hand, and strive to learn new approaches and methods.

Currently, we use Ruby on Rails with a Postgres backend and Sidekiq+Redis for our background processing-intensive app.

Besides building top notch software, applications, and user experiences, we like to see individuals eager to pitch in and help build the company.
