POSITION/TITLE: Quality Assurance Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Quality Assurance

FLSA: Exempt                                 

REDDWERKS SUMMARY:

Reddwerks develops and sells WMS, WCS, and CCS software for some of the largest users in the world, including four of the top ten retailers in the US, the largest distributor to convenience stores, and one of the largest parcel and logistics companies. Deploying Reddwerks v4.0 starts with our systematic, mathematical, and science-based analysis of customers’ needs, we call “Distribution Science.” Headquartered in Austin, TX, our software has been deployed in more than 60 high-volume distribution centers throughout North America.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

Minimum Education: Science based education (computer science/engineering preferred). Minimum Bachelor’s degree. Masters degree an asset.

Minimum Experience: Academic achivement and professional achievement in quality assurance.

Skills: Attention to detail, critical thinking, reading comprehension, active listening, speaking, writing, monitoring, programming, complex problem solving, quality control analysis, systems evaluation & team player. Including:

  • Strong database skills: MySQL, MS SQL Server, Informix, Oracle
  • Scripting skills: Perl, PHP, Ruby, Python or relevant
  • Programming languages: Java, J2EE, C, C# Javascript, SQL, XML, HTML
  • Programming concepts: Object Oriented Programming and Service Oriented Architecture
  • Tools: JIRA, SVN, Zephyr, DBunit and JUnit
  • Demonstrated success with SQA best practices
  • Testing methods: Black Box, White Box, systems and performance
  • Knowledge of test automation with 2 or more tools
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience with Scrum and other Agile processes

Work Activities/Responsibilities:  

  • Responsible for the management of overall quality assurance of project
  • Design comprehensive test suites
  • Design, develop and execute test cases
  • Run Black Box, White Box and system tests
  • Run integration tests with external vendors
  • Manage release cycles
  • Track and report bugs
  • Ensure traceability of test cases to requirements
  • Work with project managers to ensure all requirements are tested
  • Run SQL queries
  • End-user training with Fortune 500 customers
  • Travel to customer sites nationwide (possibly international) depending on phase of project
