PEG Bandwidth, is a nationwide provider of customized cell site backhaul networks, aggregates mission-critical Ethernet backhaul traffic across multiple, disparate fiber networks by leveraging existing fiber plant, where available, to construct last-mile fiber laterals to nearby sites and complementing that fiber reach with licensed microwave.

PEG Bandwidth delivers complex network solutions across broad geographies utilizing some combination of fiber and licensed, point-to-point microwave.

Job Title: Wireless Construction Manager

Job Description

The Installation Project Manager is responsible for planning, controlling, and managing the field deployments of microwave networks across a broad geographical area of existing and new markets. The PM will develop scopes of work (SOW) for PEG microwave deployments using company standards and best practices.  This position will be responsible for evaluating and establishing partnerships with multiple subcontractors.  As well as perform site walks, generate BOMs and order & manager installation materials.

Provide critical decision making in terms of network and business management. Errors in decision making process will result in critical delays in schedules.

Area

Core Responsibility

Network Builds & Expansions

  • Insures programmatic planning of significant network additions or modifications.
  • Provides tracking mechanisms to communicate pitfalls or issues that would delay or impact network growth

Workforce Management

  • Maintains proper staffing through performance management and hiring processes
  • Improve workforce efficiencies through the implementation of automation, training, and best in class operational policies and procedures
  • Reviews workload requirements and forecasts temporary overload requirements. Arranges for manpower to address.
  • Insures proper training and technical capabilities are developed and integrated to the workforce to meet needs of business.

Deployment Contractor/Vendor Training

  • Conduct Interview and support selection of deployment resources
  • Coordinate technician access to systems & tools for new contractors
  • Conduct contractor training & certification of new vendors on FT standards

Customer Relations and Sales Support

  • Participates actively in all customer activities, including meetings, site visits
  • Teams in a support role with Sales and Engineering to drive new opportunities.

Financial and Cost  Management

  • Participates in project financial planning as related to operational aspects.
  • Drives installations to achieve positive EBITDA
  • Partner with Engineering & Service Delivery team to meet or exceed customer FOC dates to ensure revenue is in alignment with expenses

Profile

This role will require balanced work between field travel and work at office and customer sites, both in the “home” market and at other markets. Travel up to 50%. This position will also be expected to be available after-hours for call/phone support.

Experience

  • 7 years of leading/managing field operations teams within a telecom environment, preferably a wireless, LEC, CLEC, or LD carrier.
  • 4 years direct experience in mid-management planning and controlling
  • 6 years of experience in the actual installation, problem diagnosis and maintenance of telecommunications equipment, or first level supervision of:
    • Point-to-point and point-to-multipoint microwave networks
    • Fiber optic networks and technologies: SONET, DWDM equipment
    • Power and environmental control systems
    • Network surveillance and telemetry systems
  • Must have strong knowledge applicable federal and state regulations, safety compliance, including that related to tower and RF safety.

Skills:

  • Extremely strong team leadership, self-starter, and time management skills
  • Must be capable of providing strong customer relations: good presentation skills, able to support new sales, provide implementation status and deliver operational reviews
  • Ability to foster and manage cooperative team efforts across a wide range of levels and functions
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Must have very strong personal computer skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project and Outlook)

Education:

High School and/or GED required - Advanced technical or business degree preferred.
