Speech Analysis Researcher with strong signal processing background and in-depth knowledge of statistics and related mathematical disciplines.
About the Job
We seek a talented researcher in speech analysis with a strong intellect and desire to tackle fundamental problems with an impact on the real world and the scientific community. The candidate should have a strong signal processing background and in-depth knowledge of statistics and related mathematical disciplines. He/She should also have experience in developing practical algorithms for speech-related applications. Problems of current interest include modeling speech cues to reveal speaker intent and extracting the structure of conversations and speech cues to enhance language understanding. Creative thinking and ability to propose new directions of innovative research is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will be an essential part of the CHAT (Conversational Human-Agent Technology) group, a new, exciting effort in the Intelligent Systems Lab at PARC focusing on everything around conversation: from understanding and modeling how humans communicate to developing engaging artificial conversational agents. Such problems require knowledge and understanding of social sciences as well as broad knowledge of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and signal processing. Our team is multi-disciplinary and allows for collaboration among researchers in a variety of fields as well as leading faculty.
