Central Office Supervisor

West Virginia area

 

Job Duties:

Supervise Central Office technician’s responsible configuration, maintenance and repair of central office equipment (voice and data) to meet quality standards and Company practices. (e.g. Carrier equipment, data transmissions facilities, fiber cable, MUX/DAC’s and associated equipment)

Overall supervision of Central Office technicians responsible for the following:

  • Maintain Digital Switches in the Central Office Environment
  • Install and repair all special circuits, voice and data, including FX lines
  • Read, interpret and modify (as applicable) wiring and schematic diagrams, analog and digital circuitry and plant record system data
  • Complete trunk orders, code openings and system diagnostics as necessary
  • Utilize appropriate test equipment
  • Must perform any other duties assigned

  • Must be able to work when needed and in all types of weather
  • Must be available to work in West Virginia area
  • Must interact with (Engineering, Assignment and Outside Plant) workforces to coordinate and disseminate information to complete job assignments and with other sections (Business Office/Marketing) to attain Company service objectives
  • Must maintain a professional image
  • Must support and participate in promotion of Company products
  • Must have working computer knowledge in a Windows environment, demonstrate that you can log on, log off, use Company systems to obtain job assignments, sign off jobs using proper disposition coding and complete timesheets using Company-provided programs aided by Company -provided training by the end of the qualifying period

 

Must be physically able to perform duties of the job to include:

1. Lifting tools and ladders

2. Climbing ladders

3. Work in confined spaces

4. Handle all necessary materials and supplies

Requirements:

  • A complete review and understanding of customers Method of Procedure (MOP) .
  • Update equipment office records and installation specification to document accurate "as built" information
  • Must have a valid drivers
  • Must provide own tools
  • Travel required
  • Must be physically fit to perform job (must be able to lift 80 lbs)
  • Four (4) years of Central Office Experience including digital carrier, data communications and POTS
  • Certificate on one digital switch
  • Experience with special circuit installation and maintenance (e.g. ISDN, 56K, T1, DS3, etc.)
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills
  • Telecommunications wiring color-code competency
  • Understanding of basic electricity
  • Basic computer knowledge in a Windows environment, ex. use email, browse internet
  • Must be able to work shifts, days, nights, evenings (depending on tour selection) and work overtime and emergency call outs
  • Works well within a team demonstrating leadership abilities
  • Satisfactory written/reading communication skills
  • Good organization skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Commissioning and integration experience a plus

 

Education/Training Preferred:

  • High school diploma or GED, technical degree preferred
  • 6+ years related Central Office work experience (3+ years if all experience is within the past 6 years)
  • Working knowledge  of digital fundamentals and electricity theory, equivalent trade experience or certificate(A+, Networking +, or CCNA) from an accredited outside agency
  • Experience in advanced software based digital switch programming and diagnostics )tools required)
