Product/Compliance Manager  Underwriting & Compliance

Job Description:
Perform all duties as directed, including but not limited to the following:
Generally responsible for  products and underwriting guidelines with the end-goal to meet corporate profitability and production objectives:
o Develop products (forms, endorsements, etc) and underwriting guidelines;
o Continually review/evaluate/enhance/refine products and underwriting guidelines;
o Continually research/assess how  compares to competition and the market overall;
o Implement revisions to products and underwriting guidelines, including preparing filings and providing guidance to Systems;
o Contribute to development of related training materials / presentations;
o Actively participate in training as needed.

Generally responsible for ensuring compliance with all statutes/regulations, laws, filed/approved rules, and policies/procedures enacted by :
o Manage the underwriting regulatory compliance function;
o Assist in providing direction to  employees and third-party vendors regarding state/federal regulations;
o Ensure objective, independent internal control evaluations are in place throughout the organization;
o Manage, maintain, and update auditing procedures as regulated by the various Departments of Insurance, other state regulations, the Federal Government, and  management;
o Evaluate on a regular basis the compliance of systems, operations and company practices against regulations and company policies and documents, and report findings along with recommendations for improvement;
o Work independently to lead and execute formal audits from start to end, providing  management with at least an annual report providing the findings and recommendations for improvement.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Insurance or related field or the equivalent from accredited University.
Successful completion of some parts of the CPCU or actuarial exams and working toward a professional designation. Advanced degree a plus.
5 years in Product Management, Underwriting, Compliance, or Product Development.
Candidate must have strong Product or Underwriting background.
Extensive experience in insurance; voluntary product experience required.
Excellent analytical, organizational skills, problem-solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication, relationship building skills and the ability to work well under tight deadlines.
Strong ability to gather information from multiple parties to ensure all perspectives are heard and considered.
Effective leadership and project management skills, with ability to manage and influence without direct authority.
Strong presentation skills.
Ability to analyze, synthesize and retain an extensive volume of information on a large number of issues, and make sound business decisions.
Knowledge and experience related to product development.
Personal computer skills, with experience in a Windows environment.
