Software Engineer - Application Dev

Job Description

Are you interested in building apps used by 100s of millions of people? Livefyre is looking for an Application Engineer to design and build cutting edge web user experiences at scale (>250M global uniques monthly). 

The Role

  • Work with product managers, designers, and other engineers to build real-time web applications
  • Build rich apps in Javascript that scale using the latest web development tools, technologies, and practices
  • Build services using Python frameworks and persistence layers
  • Ensure testability and maintainability of software over many cycles of development

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience building Internet software products at high scale
  • Excellent team and communication skills
  • Extremely proficient in JavaScript and at least one other language, preferably Python
  • Understanding of frontend architecture patterns and familiarity with the latest JavaScript frameworks and development tools
  • Strong understanding of web technologies: HTML5, CSS3, HTTP, CORS, Restful APIs, Auth protocols
  • Experience with data store (MongoDB, Redis, MySQL, etc.) and data access layers and patterns
  • Experience with current development practices: unit testing, source control, deployment tools, cloud services such as AWS
  • Strong grasp of CS fundamentals and design patterns
  • Ability to troubleshoot, especially under fire
  • Sense of urgency and thrives in a fast-paced environment
