Lead/Senior Platform Engineer

Life360 is the largest family network in the world. Our 38 million users make up approximately 15 million families, with a million new families added just last month. Last year we processed 76 BILLION location check ins, and right now our APIs process over 250 million location points a day. We support iOS and Android, have a growing web presence, and are always on the lookout for new platforms to conquer.

Additionally, we have a roster of strategic partnerships that will connect Life360 to the automobile and home security industries.

First and foremost, we're looking for someone with:

  • Experience scaling sites/APIs to millions of hits per day
  • Strong knowledge of the LAMP stack
  • A desire to bring innovative solutions to the challenges of scaling the API and platform

Some of the things you'll do:

  • Play a key role in the product development cycle
  • Partner with our biz dev team to deliver awesome products for our partners
  • Take specs and translate them into reality
  • Rapidly find and fix bugs and prevent them from reoccurring
  • Conduct design and code reviews

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to make the hard calls between beautiful architecture and quick hacks
  • Passion for technology and never-ending curiosity about the next bright and shiny thing
  • Preference for working in a small, scrappy team
  • A sense of humor and the ability to not take yourself too seriously
  • Experience developing location-based services
  • Experience with NoSQL solutions (Cassandra, Redis)
  • Experience with AWS (EC2, S3, ELB, etc)
  • Ability to administer nginx / php-cgi / MySQL
  • Know MySQL better than the back of your hand
