Responsibilities:

Do you have a creative eye for design? Do you often research what makes people do the things they do? Are you obsessive about designing a product with a great user experience? Kiwi Crate is looking for a creative and strategic designer who is passionate about design and obsessive about designing online products with great user experience. The Web Designer at Kiwi Crate is responsible for designing the user interface of the Kiwi Crate website, by balancing the needs of our users, our design aesthetic as well as the objectives of the business. Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Create exceptional designs, working within the Kiwi Crate brand, for various online products
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to assess product requirements, translate requirements into interaction models, user flows, wireframes, and that promote ease of use and optimize the user experience
  • Experience with building rapid high fidelity prototypes, landing pages, and display ads using Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Iterate and test alternative designs to optimize conversion of user flows
  • Have practical experience employing user-centered design methods
  • Have confidence and experience in presenting design ideas and recommendations to team
  • Keep abreast of current design tools, techniques, methodologies and technologies (e.g. HTML 5, design for mobile)
  • Be the champion of the user experience, as well as our brand and design guidelines
  • Conduct user research activities by testing the usability of features and conceptual designs

You must have a strong desire to learn and improve. Excellent organizational, communications, and multi-tasking skills are musts. Required skills and qualifications include:

  • 3+ years of experience designing websites and web applications
  • BA or BS in human computer interaction design or graphic design
  • Entrepreneurial - thrive in fast paced environment with limited resources
  • Extraordinary product, interaction, and visual design talent
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain your design decisions
  • Substantial experience designing interactive online products
  • Be self-motivated, self-driven and able to make logical decisions to ensure the overall success of the project by creating designs that seamlessly address customer and business concerns and objectives
  • Proficient in the Adobe CS5+ creative suite - specifically Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to think critically and creatively

Bonus:

  • Experience working at early stage startup
  • Experience with designing for mobile
  • Experience designing for print or across broad spectrum of design
  • Ability to build what you design - HTML, CSS, Javascript, Flash
  • Experience with Fireworks and other creative suite programs
