We are hiring a Quality Assurance Manager.  Reporting to the VP of Engineering; this position will lead the team responsible for quality assurance testing, test automation and performance testing for Jama to ensure quality deployments while balancing risk with time to production. This person will be responsible for working closely with the rest of engineering to define and sustain a Quality Assurance vision that incorporates quality assurance standards, performance testing approaches, and automation strategies and frameworks.  This person is responsible for a strong QA team with processes that can scale to handle more products, frequent and shorter QA cycles, customer development projects, maintenance releases and integrations, for both SaaS and on-prem environments.  This person must be flexible in testing approach for the fast-moving, lean/agile environment in Jama engineering.

The Quality Assurance Manager will be a front line leader to their team and partner with teams across the company to ensure we are delivering the a world-class product for our customers.

•  Provide leadership, mentorship and technical expertise to the Quality Assurance team.

•  Partner closely with Development Management, Product Management and customers on the product roadmap and business goals to ensure Quality is aligned to Jama’s strategy.  Provide technical input and coordinate appropriate resource workloads across the team.

•  Lead development projects as the Project Manager and Release Manager, as well as work closely with product development teams on product integration, estimation, compatibility and user experience.

Define and Execute on a QA Strategy: Define and execute on a vision around agile testing methodologies and progressive QA best practices. Ensure high quality deployments in suitable timeframes for both SaaS and on-premises environments.

  • Build strong relationships and partner with development, product, support and other cross-functional teams to define, standardize and apply the QA strategy, tools, sprint goals and deadlines. Maintain a solid understanding on how the QA strategy and processes will impact other teams.
  • Define and manage release management strategy including release plan, schedule and identified resources, both within QA and cross functionally.
  • Define and implement a test automation strategy that reduces manual testing and regression testing improving the quality of a release and the ability to release more often.
  • Define and drive performance testing focused on maintaining uptime percentages and keeping down latency for internal and external systems. Identify a strategy for maintaining consistent QA environments, providing as much uptime for testing as possible.
  • Build a strong suite of QA metrics that will drive a more data driven approach, comprehensive bug tracking and reporting. Ensure timeline completion of testing and establish regular cadence for measurement/reporting.

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor degree in Information Architecture, Design, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • Deep understanding of quality assurance techniques, frameworks and methodologies for web based applications. Ability to find innovative solutions and evolve beyond conventional QA approaches.
  • Experience managing a QA team within software engineering, at least two years management experience expected.
  • Excellent coach and mentor with proven track record of leading high performing teams through setting clear expectations and providing regular, consistent feedback.
  • Desire to create extraordinary customer experiences.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are critical. Ability to develop and maintain strong, effective relationships across the organization.
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced environment where new challenges are consistent.
  • Experience with QA tools for test automation and performance testing including JUnit, Selenium 2.0, Mobile automation testing tools and JMeter
  • Agile or lean experience required
  • Experience in both SaaS and on-premises environments
  • Experience with virtualization/cloud computing with experience using Amazon Web Services a plus
  • Security related testing and experience with code analysis tools is a plus
