Senior Mobile QA Engineer

 

At IMVU we are continuously iterating and improving, often pushing code live to production 50 times per day. We have a deep commitment to developer testing, and every push passes an exhaustive set of optimized unit tests. All of this is happening in an environment with 100s of servers and 100s of thousands of concurrent users with no separate QA or staging environments.

 

Our continuous deployment model creates unique technical challenges that most organizations won’t even consider taking on. We are looking for a Senior SW QA Engineer / QA Lead with software development talent and a passion for delivering value and quality experiences to our customers.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and perform manual and automated tests. Author and maintain test scripts and procedures. Analyze system failures and test results.

  • Improve code quality and coverage by acting as a vocal proponent of QA in every phase of product development, from design through deployment and more.

  • Drive dialogue in a small agile development team to determine how features will be tested, producing test plans, matrices and acceptance criteria.

  • Select and apply appropriate QA methods and tools (manual exploration, white box test automation, performance/stress testing and beyond) to ensure timely high quality delivery of mobile applications.

  • Isolate, investigate and report bugs. Verify fixes.

  • Perform gap analysis of test plans and schedules, prioritizing testing activities.

 

Requirements:

  • 8+ years hands on software QA experience, including black-box and white-box testing

  • 4+ years working as a QA lead

  • 2+ years as part of an agile software development team, preferably as the sole QA resource collaborating with a highly productive and talented group of engineers

  • Deep experience writing test plans, detailed test cases, and other formal test documentation

  • Deep experience testing iOS and Android mobile and tablet applications

  • Experience testing mobile or web-based applications implemented using service-oriented architectures

  • Fundamental understanding of scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, and PHP

  • Take charge attitude and “own” the quality of our software

 

Bonus Points:

  • Experience testing browser-based online services and/or desktop client applications

  • Experience working in an environment that launches code daily

  • Experience working as a build and/or release engineer

  • Experience writing automated tests

  • Experience contributing to an open source project

  • BS or MS degree in engineering, preferably in Computer Science
