Sr Software Engineer - Storage Management

Gridstore was founded 4 years ago and is a 50 person company in the high growth Software Defined Storage sector. We're still small enough where you can make a big impact each day. Gridstore’s unique storage product line helps Microsoft virtualization customers improve their application performance by 2-5X. Our modular, “grid” storage approach is a unique, patented software architecture that allows customers to buy as they grow and scale to 3 Petabytes of data or greater. Our storage is optimized for companies with Microsoft Hyper-V and physical server environments. Today, Microsoft owns 25% of the server virtualization market and is expected to increase this share by 15-20 % a year. This same technology can also be extended to VMware.  Gridstore is adding talented engineers to extend our market reach and staff this exciting team working with the Grid Control

Our product currently integrates with Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager using Storage Management Provider and our own RESTful API.  Work on a team with both junior and senior engineers to help design and deliver functionality for managing the Gridstore Grid using an industry standard.  Experience implementation of unique distributed computing and networking challenges, advanced distributed storage concepts and immersion into virtualization systems. Our working environment includes a great expresso machine, healthy (and unhealthy) snacks, an open environment, walking access to many great lunch choices on El Camino Real and our location just minutes from downtown Mountain View.

We are seeking a software engineer to work on the development of Gridstore’s Grid Control management service and system level controls in the client and storage nodes.  We need help in both Windows and VMware environments. You can get excellent cross platform experience in this role.  This is a key position requiring hands-on technical capability to join our development team. 


  • Work on the control plane for the block storage system based on our Grid architecture.  Includes design and implementation of OEM partner integrations into our control application, management of external development of SMI-S, development of advanced custom High Availability features tailored to our Grid architecture.
  • Design and implementation of controls using Gridstore’s own RESTful API.
  • Ensure Gridstore operability in multiple environments including Windows Server 2012 and VMware ESX.
  • Interact with QA to provide tested, clean releases and take feedback resolving bugs to converge products to quality
  • Bug triage, Bug scrubbing, Bug resolution
  • Drive SW quality process, Create unit tests to verify your design.

Job Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science required at a minimum
  • 2-6 years experience software development.
  • Knowledge of best practices for the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Practical experience with C#, .net and RESTful interfaces.
  • Experienced and hands-on in a Windows System Center/VMM/SCOM environment. 
  • Understanding of system level storage design including RAID, Block storage, iSCSI and thin provisioning.
  • Tools experience such as Visual Studio, TFS, Git, Bugzilla or Jira.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Able to effectively organize and prioritize multiple tasks. 
  • Able to interact creatively and achieve results in a dynamic small company environment.
  • Exposure to several products, architectures and environments
