Executive Sous Chef

Job Description: Gourmet Gorilla launched in 2009 with the goal to serve local, organic and nutritious food to help support the development of healthy minds and bodies of our children at schools throughout the Midwest. Our mission is to dramatically improve the food and food service experience in schools in order to reduce obesity and improve health, education and well being for the students of the schools that we serve.

Gourmet Gorilla has achieved phenomenal growth and success over the past few years and looking to add a lead executive chef or phenomenal culinary leader that can manage the culinary operations.


Ideal candidates will have 2 plus years culinary experience, be passionate about the growing child nutrition movement and involved in local sustainable food advocacy and food equality.



  • Candidate can build, test, conduct, standardize,onboard new staff, and orchestrate daily production schedules for recipes and cycle menus that change on a seasonal basis.



  • 50-60 Hours/Week

  • The starting salary is up to $35,000.00-45,000.00 DOE

  • Immediate Start



  • Executive Chef/Corporate Chef/Chef de Cuisine

  • Registered Dietician (with masters degree in Nutritional Sciences)



  • 2 Years volume production cooking experience

  • 2 or more years management experience with teams of 5-10 staff

  • 2 Year Associates Culinary Degree from reputable college

  • Working knowledge of HACCP

  • Working knowledge of large scale cooking equipment.

  • Working knowledge of recipe development for large production.

  • Understands cooking yields

  • Ability to learn online order system software and recipe software

  • Ability to lead a production team to successfully hold up SOP’s, manage food cost, labor and positive employee morale.

  • Ability to learn school nutrition and National School Lunch Program requirements.

  • Ability and understanding of children's palates, ability to use and understanding of midwest growing cycles for local produce.
