We build products at the intersection of mobile, local and social. Our goal? to make the real world easier to use. We're a small but highly ambitious technology company. Engineers make up over half of our team, and we’re executing on an overflowing product roadmap faster than any startup out there. Foursquare launched in 2009, grew 3400% last year, passed 1.5 billion check-ins, and we're just getting started. We have a fast-growing community of 15+ million users that rely on us to help them decide where to go and what to do next. We’re also helping half a million registered businesses ranging from local merchants to global brands connect with their customers. We're right in the center of a huge opportunity in a quickly-evolving market, and need your smarts to create the best service possible.
To thrive as a member of team foursquare, you must embrace our exciting work-hard, play-hard environment. We're not afraid to move fast and break things as we release, launch, iterate, update and announce -- sometimes all in the same day. We're a closely-knit team and, especially at the end of a long day over beers, we feel like we're inventing the future together.
About the Network Engineer position:
foursquare is building out datacenters, peering capacity, and backbone, and we need help! We're looking for a Network Engineer who knows how to build capacity from the ground up - somebody who can crimp cat5, rack a Juniper T320, and design and configure a BGP peering policy. Oh, and, you also need to be comfortable with basic Linux production environment tools. If you've got a special place in your heart for not-so-stubby areas, have strong feelings about cable management products, and run your personal website on nginx, we love you, and want you here.
5+ years experience building network and facility
strong BGP and OSPF operation and troubleshooting skills
basic linux system administration experience
grace under fire, and willingness to do 24x7 on-call approximately 1 week per month
a scrappy attitude and self-directed work ethic
