IT Support Engineer

DataXu has an immediate opening for a Jr. IT Support Engineer in the downtown Boston, MA office. You will be the part of a team responsible for desktop, laptop and remote employee support ensuring issues are resolved and helping users, setting up new hires and new equipment and assist in creating an overall IT process for the company. This position reports to the Manager of Information Technology whom is responsible for overall IT support and works closely with the senior level IT Support Engineer your ideas will help create the best IT support team possible!

Responsibilities:

Setting up new laptops/desktops for new employees/replacement equipment (Windows 7, XP, Vista and Ubuntu Linux)

Responding and taking and/or re-assigning trouble tickets to the appropriate engineer/department

Supporting the LAN/WAN office environment

Managing the VoIP PBX phone system (3COM NBX)

Support remote employees and ensure remote offices have connectivity to infrastructure

Managing hardware inventory

Maintaining relationships with our various software, and hardware vendors

Ordering/Procuring equipment as needed

Troubleshooting system and network issues as they occur

Innovating by bringing new ideas to the table to help expand the knowledge of the team

Creating and automating processes in the IT environment to streamline new build and troubleshooting processes

Assist with supporting the production SaaS environment (heavily Linux based)

 Requirements:

2-3 years of IT support experience supporting Windows OS and/or Linux desktops

Proficient troubleshooter/problem solver

Basic familiarity with LAN/WAN IP and switching technologies

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Familiar with basic Linux System Administration and Linux troubleshooting a huge plus

Thrives in a startup environment that is very dynamic with rapidly changing priorities

Experience managing an Active Directory environment and comfortable managing Windows Server OS installations

Experience supporting remote offices and employees

Self-starter, with good follow-through; initiative to work on issues until full resolution
