Bay Area Senior Health Services is seeking Certified Nursing Assistants for this San Mateo facility.

Position Overview

Under the direction and supervision of the Head Nurse or Charge Nurse, the Nursing Assistant performs nursing care services for residents.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides a suitable environment for residents by giving attention to cleanliness, ventilation, lighting and furniture arrangements
  • Assists residents to ensure that their cleanliness, grooming, nourishment, rest, activity and elimination are in a manner conducive to the resident’s comfort and safety
  • Preserves the dignity and self-respect of all residents at all times
  • Practices confidentiality about the residents and nursing care activities
  • Promotes restorative nursing care as directed and instructed for individual residents
  • Keeps alert to the residents' conditions and reports changes to supervisor.  As well as reporting changes in the residents' attitude, appearance, behavior and physical ability to the Head Nurse or Charge Nurse.
  • Performs selected nursing procedures which do not require professional evaluation as assigned and instructed by the Head Nurse or Charge Nurse
  • Practices conservation of equipment and supplies, keeping them clean and ready to use.  Reports any equipment and supply needs to the Head Nurse or Charge Nurse
  • Responds promptly to emergencies
  • Promptly answers call signals
  • Transports residents to and from appointments
  • Assists residents in their recreational and social activities as needed
  • Assumes group and dining room duties as assigned by the head Nurse or Charge Nurse
  • Recognizes and respects the individual emotional, social and cultural needs of residents, including their religious beliefs
  • Attends orientation and in-service training programs as scheduled
  • Records pertinent information about the residents
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduated from a Certified Nursing Assistant Program
  • Current and active CNA certificate - required
  • Ability to speak English clearly and write legibly
  • Ability to understand and carry out directions or instructions, both written and verbal
