Network/Systems Administrator at Slide in San Francisco, CA

Responsibilities:

  • We're seeking a network/systems administrator with experience building and scaling large, multi-datacenter architectures for high traffic websites. You must have a mastery of Linux and network design.
  • Slide is growing fast, and we need admins who can work onsite full-time at our San Francisco office to take ownership and build out and continue to scale.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of production network/systems administration in production environments for large, growing web properties.
  • Emphasis on Linux and Cisco equipment in previous experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of TCP/IP, firewall, networking protocols and security concepts.
  • Excellent understanding of layer 2 and layer 3 networking topologies. (VLANS, STP, NAT, ACLs, PBR, OSPF, BGP)
  • Architectural experience in an Apache/MySQL environment.
  • Familiarity with load balancing technologies and systems.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and configuration distribution tools (nagios, puppet, rancid, cacti, ganglia)
  • Excellent working knowledge of DNS, HTTP/S, SSH, LDAP, NFS, PXE/DHCP/TFTP.
  • Extensive sh/csh/perl knowledge (Python a big plus).
  • Must be detail oriented, an organized thinker, and able to act decisively under stressful conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to multitask and prioritize, and a proactive mindset.
  • Team player and self-motivated.
  • Willing to work on-call and respond to production issues 24x7.
