Job Summary:
The Processing Engineer is responsible for assisting the Manufacturing Engineer & Engineering Manager in the developing and maintaining of the Methods of Manufacture and production prints to meet customer requirements. This Processing Engineer has a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Manufacturing preferred) and/or minimum 2-3 years in a precision machining environment.
Responsibilities:

Ability to create or update or maintain the BOM’s and routers.

Teams with customer or supplier to review designs for manufacturability as required under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineer or the Engineering Manager.

Ability to develop an understanding of the functionality of individual parts, each part’s feature specifications and how to verify GD&T was properly applied.

Ability to learn Fixture Design and Fixture Design Assistance.

Create in-process drawings for part manufacturing under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineer or Engineering Manager.

Assist in project management of the Advanced Product Quality Planning process.

Participate in root cause analysis of customer/supplier rejections and internal failures.

Ability to learn the execution of ECNs and coordinate any changes concerning the manufacture process of a part.

Work on continuous improvement projects centering under the direction of Senior Quality or Engineering personnel.

Frequently reviews all correspondences and responds to all requests in a timely manner.
Skills & Experience Preferred:
-
Adobe, Basic Cad/CAM, Microsoft & Solid Works experience is desired, as well as the ability to learn new software.

Technical ability to read, analyze and interpret precision machined part drawings, GD&T and customer specifications.

Working knowledge or good understanding of precision machining concepts (CNC mills, lathes, mill-turns); hands on experience a plus.

Basic knowledge of individual part inspection & gauge requirements related to precision machine parts.

Experience or knowledge of secondary manufacturing process [honing, grinding, heat treatment and plating], as well as material machinability.

Education in Project management.

Some experience with troubleshooting or problem solving skills, related to the manufacturing process, including speaking customer design engineers or suppliers.

Able to lead or work within teams [for Corrective Action, APQP, or Continuous Improvement] or independently with minimal supervision.

Communicates to the organization with growing effectiveness.

Math skills, including shop calculations.

Previous Work Experience & Education:

Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Manufacturing preferred)**
