Software Engineer at Logik in Washington, DC
Location: DC or remote for just the right person
This is not a job for ninjas, samurais, or rock stars. If you're looking to spend your time writing code for daily deals, likes, follows, or photo manipulation filters this is not the job for you.
However, if you're a humble, hard-working, code-hustler interested in the same technologies these large consumer apps are using (Mongo, Redis, Ruby, etc.), but don't want to be just another cog in their machines, this could be the job for you.
Still here? Ok, let's get to the details...
We've built our own cloud infrastructure at Logikcull.com--this is not AWS. We're old school. We build and configure our own servers. Why? Because what we do demands it. We're not asking you to build these servers--although there's ample opportunity for that--but we are asking you to help make Logikcull purr on them. Logikcull is a Rails front-end and Ruby back-end with all sorts of interconnecting parts you'll love playing with (Redis, Mongo, distributed Lucene, etc.).
Like BIG data? Yeah, we've got that too. Imagine a user uploading an entire hard drive worth of documents and email. That's what people do in Logikcull every day. It's crazy, we know, but that's what eDiscovery is all about: sifting through enormous amounts of mostly unknown documents. Logikcull's job is to make this whole process fast, painless, and organized, which requires a large and highly distributed back-end infrastructure. Just imagine what you could do with all that data, mmmmmmm....data...
Wipe that drool from your chin. We know, it gets us excited too! It's part of the reason we get out of bed every morning. It's a massive, dynamic challenge and it’s getting exponentially more complex and interesting every day.
But here's the deal. We're not only solving huge technical challenges that only a handful of companies are even attempting right now, we're also making a major difference in the world. We've democratized eDiscovery for everyone. What we've built was once available to only the richest of companies and law firms. Now, anyone can do it. We’ve leveled the field of play and that makes us happy.
If this sounds like the kind of job you'd like to get involved in let us know. Send us an email telling us why that is.
