Developer Advocate

San Francisco, CA or New York, NY | Platform

Job Description

About Foursquare:

Foursquare helps you and your friends make the most of where you are. We're a small but highly ambitious company with millions of users worldwide relying on Foursquare to keep up with friends, discover what's nearby, save money and unlock deals.  We’re also helping over a million registered merchants ranging from local businesses to global brands connect with their customers.

To thrive as a member of team Foursquare, you must embrace our exciting work-hard, play-hard environment. We're not afraid to move fast and break things as we release, launch, iterate, update and announce -- sometimes all in the same day. We're a closely-knit team and, especially at the end of a long day over beers, we feel like we're inventing the future together.

About the Developer Advocate position:

The Platform team is in search of a Developer Advocate who can help make Foursquare one of the most successful, widely used platforms on the Internet. This role will work with Foursquare engineering to design API improvements, represent Foursquare at developer events, help run our developer site, build demos of new API features, answer questions from our over 20,000 (and growing) third-party developers, and much more! The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fluid startup environment and will bring an energetic, fun and creative approach to their work.

This job is available in both our San Francisco office in SoMA or New York City office in SoHo. We offer a competitive compensation package including equity options and full benefits for all employees.

What we're looking for:

  • Prior software developer experience (e.g. Javascript, Python, Ruby)
  • Huge plus if you’ve actually built something on the Foursquare API (send us a link!)
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Comfortable communicating with large audiences (e.g. participating in a developer forum, presenting to a group of hackers)
