Business Development, Carrier Relations (Latin America)

San Francisco, CA | Business Development

Job Description

About Us:

About the Job:

Twilio is growing its international customer base.  We are developing carrier and messaging provider relationships in new countries in Latin America to launch and expand into new markets.  You will create financial models, review legal contracts and establish new business models.  You will gain deeper operational knowledge of web and mobile technologies, including cloud-based platforms, telecommunications and developer toolkits.

  • Define the provider strategy and priority for Latin America, working with the internal Sales, Marketing and Product teams to define requirements and priorities.
  • Meet, vet, negotiate and close deals with carriers and messaging providers for each region. Be a single point of contact for all contracts.
  • Work internally with the Product and Finance teams to understand the cost impact of each deal.  Manage the carrier and provider onboarding process, serving as the liaison between the provider and our Operations and Product teams.
  • Manage the ongoing business relationship with each carrier and provider, assessing and adjusting the process over time.

  • You must have experience working for, or alongside, major carriers in Latin America.
  • You have engaged partners, negotiated and closed deals in a sales or business development capacity.
  • You are a financial whiz that can create models to validate business plans.
  • You love all things technology, and want to see how a startup operates when all engines are running at full capacity.
  • You have experience working closely with a C-level executive in a business capacity.
  • You can travel over 50% of the time.
  • Hands on. Passionate. Persistent. Creative. Easy to deal with. Get things done. High personal productivity: you are a doer first.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and manage multiple project/deals at the same time.

Bonus Points:

  • It would be great if you built a Twilio app yourself before you talk to us (hint, hint).
  • BA/BS from a competitive school. MBA is a plus.
  • Entrepreneurial and leadership experience of some variety.

Perks include:

  • Full benefits, including medical, dental and vision
  • An Amazon Kindle on your first day, and $30/month to spend on books (Twilio wants you informed)
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Catered lunches and a weekly team dinner featuring invited technology and entrepreneurial speakers
  • Excellent gear (“We ❤ Apple computers and big monitors — two if you need ’em”);
  • A strong belief in life/work balance
  • Twilio track jacket and shoes after demoing your first Twilio app in front of the company!

How to apply:
Applications without cover letters will not be considered. Here’s some stuff you can include in your cover letter to move your resume to the top of the pile:

  • Include a link to an app you built using Twilio.
  • Discuss when you worked on a business development partnership deal before and drove results.
