Developer Products Lead

San Francisco, CA or New York, NY | Platform

Job Description

About Foursquare:

Foursquare helps you and your friends make the most of where you are. We're a small but highly ambitious company with millions of users worldwide relying on Foursquare to keep up with friends, discover what's nearby, save money and unlock deals.  We’re also helping over a million registered merchants ranging from local businesses to global brands connect with their customers.

To thrive as a member of team Foursquare, you must embrace our exciting work-hard, play-hard environment. We're a close-knit team and, especially at the end of a long day over beers, we feel like we're inventing the future together.

About the role:

Foursquare’s APIs attract a large, passionate developer community that’s growing at a furious pace. We're betting big on platform and want our developers to have as incredible an experience using Foursquare’s APIs as our users do using Foursquare. We learn from what other platforms have done before us, but are not afraid to blaze our own trail forward.

We’re looking for someone to own the developer product experience. This role would manage our developer tools, communication channels (site, forums, announcements, support), and design of our APIs. As part of our platform team, you’ll also help represent Foursquare at hackathons and in meetings with partners.

You should be a hacker who communicates well. We want someone who enjoys interacting with people and is passionate about APIs. We’re still a small team, so expect to work independently, make hard calls, and do what it takes to get things done.

This is a full-time position based in either our New York City or San Francisco offices. Not much travel would be required, though quarterly trips between our two offices would be strongly encouraged.

Requirements

  • A strong background in writing software and learning new technologies
  • 2+ years experience working on developer-oriented products
  • Capable of building out developer tools
  • Experience designing APIs and/or working with community tools a plus
