Security Operations Engineer at Urban Airship in Portland, OR
We’re looking for a hands-on Operations Engineer to focus as a Security specialist who’s had experience in an application environment.
You'll have a choice of location: San Francisco, CA or Portland, OR
Responsibilities
- Overall security for all Urban Airship products and systems
- Threat modeling for network, system and services
- Linux system administration, including configuration, troubleshooting, and automation
- Service configuration for dozens of interconnected applications on virtualized hosts, anything from web servers to databases to home grown services
- Performance analysis and tuning for applications, databases, everything in between
- Create tools to help automate and conduct functional tests of infrastructure
- Participate in on-call rotation
- Thoroughly document status and configuration of production systems
Skills and Experience
- Operating system level configuration of ip filtering design and access control list implementation
- Experience writing security policies
- Experience with network and application security including intrusion detection/prevention
- Deep knowledge and experience in designing firewall systems
- At least three years experience with Linux/System Administration and reasonably deep experience with python/java based systems
- Familiarity with TCP/IP networking and routing for small and large networks
- Has had skin in the game in a data center move
- Experience with automation tools Intimate knowledge of backup solutions
- Expert in monitoring systems and alerting
- Played a role in component selection or complex decision making
- Experience beyond a siloed IT department Scale/performance battle scars
