TK/Kindergarten Instructional Aide/Paraprofessional (24-25SY)

Competencies and Qualifications

Lighthouse Community Public Schools is looking for TK/Kindergarten Instructional Aide/Paraprofessional to support our growing transitional kindergarten program. This would include supporting individual TK students, instructing small and whole groups of TK students, and/or providing instruction alongside the lead teacher in a TK or TK/K combo classroom. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Under the guidance and supervision of the Lead TK/K teacher, deliver individualized, small group and whole group instruction to TK/K students throughout the TK day in a variety of subject areas as well as leading play-based learning and other core structures necessary for TK student development and using developmentally appropriate TK curriculum and instructional strategies.

  • Collaborate weekly with other TK teachers, instructional aides, teachers in training, and/or special education teachers to customize supports that encourage students’ engagement and inclusion in the general education classroom

  • Implement behavior intervention strategies and plans, as needed.

  • Collaboratively plan and lead activities that build meaningful community connections.

  • Support with other key tasks across the school day, including proctoring assessments, communicating with families, and supporting teachers and student engagement as assigned.

  • Attend and actively participate in professional development activities, team and staff meetings to improve the effectiveness of student support and engagement.

  • Actively collaborate with other staff and the larger Lighthouse community.

  • Maintain a high standard of professional behavior and follow all school staff policies, including Mandated Reporter, staff/student interaction policies and other requirements at all times.

  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree or completion of the equivalent of 2 years of college coursework.

  • B.A. or B.S., preferred

  • 2+ years of related experienceand/or experience working in schools, early childhood education, or with youth highly preferred.

  • Bilingual in Spanish, a plus

TIME COMMITMENT

This position is a full-time, salaried, non-exempt, 10-month (190 day) position following the LCPS school calendar (including approximately 5 weeks of time off aligned to school holidays and breaks during the school year). All new staff will report in July 29, 2024.

Common Building Hours: 8:00am-4:00pm M/T/Th/F and 8:00am-5:00pm W.

SUPERVISION

This position reports to the Assistant Principal.
